International Day of Sign Languages 2026 
Wednesday 23 September 2026
Proclaimed by the UN, the day marks the anniversary
of the World Federation of the Deaf's founding and promotes linguistic identity,
human rights, and early access to sign language for deaf individuals worldwide.

Sign Language Week 2027
Wednesday 17 March – Tuesday 23 March 2027
Commemorating the UK government's 2003 recognition of British Sign Language,
the week celebrates Deaf culture and advocates for full language access.

Deaf Awareness Week 2027
Wednesday 5 May – Tuesday 11 May 2027
The annual event celebrates Deaf culture, promotes sign language, and advocates
for the removal of communication barriers and equal accessibility in society.

Social Time

Deaf Young Adults at St Aloysius
For those who belong to a deaf community and are in their 20s, 30s, 40s.
Come and see what we can do to form a group of young adults to grow in faith and do things in life together.

We meet almost every first Saturday of a month at 2pm in the Ogilvie Centre and we still have plenty of room for you to join us. Please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Liturgical signing course for the hearing public for half an hour on
Saturdays after the 5.00 pm Vigil Mass.
1st floor Ogilvie Centre
*begins on Saturday 5 September 2026

St Augustine’s Church
Liturgical signing course for the hearing public on Thursdays for an hour
at 7pm–8pm at the Parish Hall
begins on Thursday 3rd September until 8 October 2026 inclusive

Liturgical signing course for members of the clergy
on Mondays for an hour at 5pm–6pm at the Parish Hall
begins on Monday 7th September until 21st September 2026 inclusive

We have regular meetings.
The executive Committee group that meets twice a year at St. Augustine’s parish.
We also run meetings for the Creative group open to public and
helping us to improve our online presence.
